We never tire of this place - truly. It's a real privilege to share a piece of the history and the beauty of this property with new guests. There's a wonderful effect staying at Richmond House Cottages has on the soul, and we always aim to give our guests space and total privacy to enjoy it here. We aren't far away though and the attention to detail and service is something we count truly important in a luxury self catering experience.

Our "Classics at the Castle" series is hosting top Italian violinist Luca Ciarla on Sunday July 13, before the World Cup final. We're so privileged to have such an event at Richmond House Cottages!

He's visiting Port Alfred on his South African tour in June and July 2014 in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria. Following a long and successful tour with his quartet just a few years ago, this time Luca will be back for more than a month and with two different solo programs. One of them, Bach into Myself, is his unique homage to the great master JS Bach (see program description below) and will be performed in Port Alfred at Richmond House Museum on Sunday July 13.

That he is reserving this performance for us is an enormous honour for our town, because he will be playing a different programme, Fiddler in the Loop, on the Grahamstown Festival's Main programme. https://www.nationalartsfestival.co.za/events/fiddler-in-the-loop/
